Baked Turnip Fries

Just something a little different for a side. My kids get tired of regular potato fries really quick so we change it up with turnips! We actually prefer them,  more zip than a plain potato, not to mention  less calories and carbs for those that are counting.
Slice them up just like fries and I use the same method/recipe as my Best Oven Fries!

5-6 small/medium sized turnips, peeled
cold water
1 tsp salt

1/4 cup olive or canola oil
1 TB minced garlic
1 TB dried parsley
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp onion powder
salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup bread crumbs(gluten free for those that need it)

Slice the turnips 3 times(depending on the size of yours!), then turn and slice them 3 more times into fries.

Put them in a bowl and cover with cold water, add 1 tsp salt and swirl around. Soak them for about 15 minutes or so

Drain and pat dry

Preheat oven to 425

Add remaining ingredients except bread crumbs to a large zip lock bag.
Add fries and seal, shake well to coat.
Add bread crumbs and seal and shake again.

Pour onto a lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown(turn once about 1/2 way through)

Serve immediately.
